Watford, 27-02-19, PL (H)

Quick one guy's, almost forgot this game. I feel we'll get back to winning ways here, Arnold should come back in, looks like firmino is out so lets have Shaqiri in, i'm putting Fabinho and wijnaldum in midfield with Shaqiri in the hole just in front of them.

                                                Arnold   Matip   VVD   Robertson

                                                 Keita     Fabinho    Wijnaldum

                                                        Shaqiri       Mane

Something like this. We badly need Salah and Mane to find their scoring boots again, maybe Shaqiri can help them. We''ll pick up 3 points here for sure. Best of luck RedMen.

  • There were so many positives from this game that its hard to focus on just one or two. What is becoming evident is that we have another elite player in Fabinho who is gradually becoming the VanDijk of midfield. He needs to add a few goals and more assists to his game but he is strong, a good distributor and reads the play brilliantly. He may not win too many man of the match awards because of the role he plays in the team but he is becoming an essential player in that strong spine of the team that Klopp has developed. I was pleased Origi got his goal as he put in a really good, hard working shift down the left. He has his limitations but Klopp may just have found a role for him over the remaining games of the season, at least coming off the bench when Firmino is back.
    • I can't help feeling the front three needed a bit of a shakeup, just to reinvigorate them a bit. The same three had been starting in the same positions nearly all season so perhaps mixing it up a bit did them good. I certainly think Origi looks stronger attacking from out wide so it'll be interesting to see if Klopp uses him there again.
  • Top performance by all accounts, i'm reading nobody had a bad game, 10 more of the same would be very much appreciated.
    • Boy, did we need a performance like that. I think the biggest factor was Trent coming back. The break seemed to do him good because his balls into the box were top level, and I mean that, they were Messi-like. To be fair, everyone stepped up a level from the United game - VvD, Milner, Robertson, Salah (although he didn't score) and Fabinho were all impressive. An interesting thing about the front three was Origi playing out wide and Mane playing through the middle. It meant Origi had to cut in from the left when attacking rather than waiting for a ball in the box and with him being a big guy I think it made him harder to defend against. His goal was very well taken and he really did contribute to the overall performance of the team. Mane was great and it's easy to forget how good a finisher he is when he's asked to play the central role. The tempo in the game was much better and the pressing was quicker, it was exactly the kind of game I hoped to see against United. I wondered how we'd handle the loss of Firmino but the fact we didn't miss him says it all.
  • I agree with the team, there's no point in being conservative in this game, we're strong enough at the back now to be more attacking when facing teams like Watford. We've got to find that attacking form again so it makes sense to include Keita and Shaqiri to maximise the chances of creating something.
    • Just when Keita was hitting form he puts him on the bench, sometimes i scratch my head when it comes to Klopp.
      • Apparently Keita had been unwell recently so the only thing I can think is that he's not quite fit enough to play 90 minutes yet.
        • Maybe so, would have prefered Shaqiri up front as well other than Origi, Origi has been awful any chance he's got recently.
  • Last 4 league games was 3 draws and a solitary win. Definitely dropped points for sure as we could have been at least a 4 point gap ahead, can’t drop anymore points. You guys are optimistic enough to rub some of that optimism on me though am freaking worried. City are smelling blood like I did at half time with manure using all there subs and f all happened
  • This is getting boring - I keep agreeing with your team! Watford are on good form but they have not beaten a top 6 team away for a very long time. A lot depends on Mane and Salah rediscovering their form in front of goal. No doubt they will be tightly marked but Watford are not great at keeping clean sheets and if we can defend solidly we should come away with the points. I can't see us going three matches without scoring.

"I'd rather we were facing a 75% fit Kane than a 100% fit Son, though its possible we could be facing both.  However, on recent form Lucas Moura is their most dangerous player.  I think we hold all the advantages but football is unpredictable so it w…"

I heard there is a debate on the question "Does LFC need another defender?"  My question is why is there a debate about an obvious need.  We needed one last summer when I brought up the fact that except for VVD, all our CBs can be considered walking…

"I also would have preferred Ajax as both teams don’t know each other and am very wary of Spurs. It took a last gasp own goal last time to win 2-1 and am sure they still smarting from that. It’s also Klopp’s 4th final as he lost the last 3 so the pre…"

There's been some subtle, but potentially important, rule changes since the last Champions League final. Each team gets to name a 23 man squad and they can pick their substitutes from any of the 12 players not chosen in the first 11. 3 substitutes…"
