Redstar, 06-11-18, CL (A)

Back to CL action now after a bit of a disappointing result against arsenal after we were leading but still a point away to a reguvinated arsenal is not the end of the world.

We comfortably beat Redstar at anfield but we may not have it as easy away even though i do expect us to win. I think we'll see a few changes for this game with the likes of  Sturridge, Moreno and Keita Starting, we may even see Mignolet between the sticks, Could we even see Lovren and Matip as our central defence partnership, i'll put them in my team for the hell of it, lets give VVD and Gomez a rest. I'm going to keep Fabinho in, he clearly needs the game time. Shaqiri has been left behind for political reasons, Hendo and Clyne not onboard through injury and illness. My team for this game would be,

                                          Clyne    Matip   Lovren   Moreno

                                               Keita    Fabinho    Lallana

                                               Sturridge    Origi    Mane

Maybe not so many changes but we need to rotate a lot more than we have been, we have the squad to do so so why not use it, this team should be enough to beat Redstar, best of luck RedMen.

  • I missed the game and it seems it was a good one to miss. There is no need to pamic. All teams (maybe not City) have a spell during the season when they are below par. We have enough quality in the ranks to come out of this spell very soon, For me the key to improvement will be integrating Keita into the team. He's the midfielder who is best equipped to link midfield with attack as Ox was doing so effectively last season.
    • The worry is though that while we seem to be going backwards right now other teams are improving and mainly arsenal/united. City and chelsea are floating along very nicely so with these 4 teams playing well, lets not forget spurs, we need to get our mojo back quick smart. Not panicking just yet but time goes quickly, before we know it it'll be january and we simply can't be in this form then.
  • Has the result with psg and napoli thrown us a lifeline? we still have a chance to qualify but we're certainly making it difficult for ourselves, we never do things the easy way.
    • Our Euro away results have been dismal. Reds must ensure at least a draw in Paris to keep qualification hopes alive for the knock-out stage!
      • This result is a major setback, it will be difficult to progress now, we need to get last seasons form back but right now that seems far far away. Although we're in a great position in the Lge our performances haven't been good and are slowly getting worse each week, this continues we'll be out of the top 4 by xmas. With united and arsenal showing good form the pressure is mounting on us to get our mojo back, thankfully we have a solid defence which is a good base to start from, i trust in Klopp and the players to turn it around and starting with fulham on Sunday.
    • There are many scenarios - some likely, some unlikely - that could see the final standings result in various ways but for Liverpool the following description basically sums up what we need to do:

'Next up for Klopp’s men is PSG at the Parc-des-Princes followed by Napoli at Anfield and although Liverpool are only on six points, they will go through if they beat the Ligue 1 champions as it will put them four points clear of Neymar and co.
A draw would also be a good result ahead of the Napoli game if the Italians beat Red Star on matchday five, as Liverpool would only need to equal or better PSG’s result in the final round of fixtures.
A loss in Paris could be disastrous as it is likely to mean Liverpool would have to beat Napoli by more than one goal or win by one goal and hope Red Star can get a result when they host PSG on matchday six.'

So, basically, we need a win or a draw in Paris to have a realistic chance to get through. A loss would make the final game against Napoli a much more difficult situation.
      • I can see PSG beating us and it will all be on the final game at home against Napoli. What an atmosphere that will be in Anfield and that is what will get us through, like i said earlier, we never do thing's the easy way.
        • The problem with losing to PSG is that even if we beat Napoli at home we'd require Red Star to get a result at home against PSG. I can't see PSG collapsing at Red Star like we did. Getting at least a point at PSG makes it SO much easier for us so everything should go into getting a result there.
          • I say PSG will beat us but i say that going on our current form, no way we'll get anything there playing the way we are right now. Hopefully a good convincing win against fulham at the weekend will get us back on track.
  • I haven't seen much of us this season so far but that tonight was the worst i've seen in a long long time. We've been poor for a few weeks now and i worry for our season unless we get our mojo back. We're a shadow of the team from last season and we were supposed to have strengthened it last summer.

"The Dortmund game was an odd one for a couple of reasons. The pitch had just been laid and they strangely didn't water it enough so it was slow and with little bounce, conditions that worked against how we play. The Dortmund team put out a strong st…"

"I'm not quite sure how it's a tribute to Bob Paisley but considering some of the kits of the recent past I think this one's not too bad. The design reminds me of chain mail so we should be alright as we go into battle."

Here's the third kit for the new season and again it pays homage to the legendary Bob Paisley.

The new season is almost upon us and is no less welcome for the fact that football never actually went away over the summer.  Liverpool are yet to sign any senior players and this gives a chance for the youngsters to make a case for their involvemen…
