Newcastle, 26-07-2020, PL, (A)

Final game of an amazing season and hopefully we can end it with a win. Hope you've all recovered from your celebrations. I'll keep this one short and sweet, for me, i would go with the same team as agaiinst Chelsea but give some of the fringe players plenty of game time no matter how the match is panning out.

                                                          Alisson

                                       Arnold     Gomez    VVD    Robbo

                                        Wijaldum        Fabinho    Keita

                                         Salah        Firmino    Mane

Start the game with this and maybe make all the changes for the 2nd half. It's a great feeling Know there's nothing riding on the game as such, except to equal our points tally i suppose but this is deffinitely a game where Klopp can experiment a little. Best of luck RedMen.

  • I didn't get to see the game today but very happy with the result. Delighted for Origi with his goal. Big shame we couldn't beat the record points tally but there's always next season, haha. We broke some more minor records today so that's good, all in all not a bad season, world, European, and English champs and lets not forget the super cup as well, happy enough i suppose, haha.
So that's it guy's for another season, one we'll never forget for various reasons but mainly that we're back on our effing perch eh fungison, haha.
Till the pre-season games, take care and mind yourselves, chat soon!
    • I've seen the highlights of the game and the goals are actually better than they first appear, the Origi and Mane goals are made pretty much out of nothing and Ox puts in a lovely ball for Van Dijk's header. The frustrating thing about the match was it highlighted how much stronger we could be if Origi and Ox were more consistent. As for the season, we got our highest ever points total and three trophies (one we've waited for 30 years for) - if you can't feel satisfied after that there's something wrong with you. Points records and the like are great but they're a bonus, it's fantastic if you get them but we shouldn't really be complaining when we don't. Liverpool play in the most competitive league in Europe, winning any trophy is not assured so forget all the white noise about what Liverpool should've done, the bottom line is we've got three trophies in the cabinet, we've got more points than we've done before and we finished fifty points ahead of Everton. Job done.
      • I managed to watch the full game. We could not have got off to a worse start, falling asleep at a quick free kick. Newcastle spent the rest of the game apparently trying to protect a 1-0 lead, even after they were 3-1-down. I can't remember another shot from them in the entire match. A lot of credit must go to Liverpool's midfield which totally dominated the game. I continue to be amazed by Milner. He has hardly kicked a ball since the restart but he was bundle of energy in this game, winning back possession and keeping the momentum ticking over. Origi was Origi - he had a stinker and then came up with a sublime goal. Same with Ox, except his highlight was the jink and cross for VVD's equaliser. Minamino worked hard but to little effect apart from one shot well saved. I would like to see him alongside Salah and Mane before I start judging him.

It was certainly a season to remember, one I wasn't sure I would live to see. If anyone had told me on the day in 2015 when Stoke beat us 6-1 that in 5 years time we would be English, European and World Champions, I would have thought they were mad. Long may it continue!

  • I'm torn between playing our strongest team, which I reckon is the one Warrior has picked, or giving some of the players a start who are expected to play a more prominent part next season. They would include Williams, Jones and Minamino. Whatever Klopp decides I would hope the celebrations on Wednesday night into Thursday morning are well and truly out of the players' systems and that they are 100% focused. Newcastle have been in poor form and they have injury problems in central defence but I would expect Bruce to have them well organised. They don't score a lot of goals but Allan Saint-Maximin is a threat, albeit he is something of a headless chicken type winger. If we are on our game we should come away with the points. I'll be keeping an eye on the other results as there are Champions League and relegation issues to be settled. I don't envy my Villa mate who will be glued to his TV with a calculator in his hand!
    • Praying for Leicester and Chelsea to win for obvious reasons, hshaha!
