Manure, 24-02-19, PL (A)

Biggest game in the English calander in my opinion, i must admit, i'm a bit worried about this one guy's. I knew when we played them at Anfield we would win but i certainly don't feel like that this time. If you offered me a draw right now i would take it. We probably need to play like we did against bournemouth recently, and more, in order to beat them and we all know we've only played that well a handful of times this season, hopefully this will be another.

We have VVD back for this game so that's a big plus so it looks likely Matip will partner him, as Lovren has been ruled out, with Klopp moving Fabinho back into midfield alongside Hendo and Wijnaldum, arguably our best midfield right now but then Keita is showing some good form as well, maybe he's finaly woken up but i think he will miss out on starting this one.

                                             Arnold     Matip    VVD   Robertson

                                              Hendo    Fabinho   Wijnaldum

                                                 Salah     Firmino    Mane

Right now i feel this is our best team and we'll need them all to be on their best form to beat this lot who have been on a revival since they got rid of that clown maureen, unfortunately. Anyway, best of luck RedMen.

  • The team is looking positive sounding positive so let’s see what happens. Quite frankly we should not have any fear of them. The other 2 midfielders is a guess. Fabinho will be there for sure. Would like to see Keiita but think Klopp will opt for Hendo and Gini
  • That's the team I would pick for this one. Its unfortunate for Keita who has improved recently but Warrior's team looks a bit more solid. I think the first goal will be crucial here. Whoever gets it can sit back a bit and catch their opponents on the break. It may not be a "must win" game but its certainly a "must not lose" game. We have lost a lot of momentum over the last few weeks but we are still in pole position and a positive result could regain that momentum for us. There's still a long way to go but I can't see City dropping many points so we need to get back to the form of the first part of the season very quickly.
    • Keita is just not consistent enough as yet. I did give up on him but he has started to show why we paid big bucks for him so maybe there's a glimmer of hope for him yet. A great option from the bench along with Shaqiri if required.
  • The performance could be as important as the result in this game. So many times this season I've watched City and thought they look unstoppable whereas with Liverpool it's been a handful of times at best. We're coming into the home straight now so we can either charge over the line or limp over it. This team is running out of excuses for not putting together regular complete team performances - we've got enough players fit to nearly put out a full first team, the newer players are nearly adjusted to the team/league, we're out of the domestic cups so we're not overplaying, the squad has been to two warm weather camps when other clubs have been playing, and we're so far through the season there can't be any rustiness left. It feels like this season has been working towards this game against United - win it convincingly and the momentum could take us to the title, lose it meekly and it could stop our title challenge dead.

Having said that, we'll have to get the balance right between tactical discipline and commitment, we don't need players running around like headless chickens. I think the above team may well be right because I don't think Klopp will want his team going at United all guns blazing, he may well ask his players to absorb United's aggression - something the above midfield and defence should be able to do - and once United have come onto Liverpool we then use the space that's opened up behind to counter with our pace. I think it could be a cagey affair, at least at first, because I can't see either side risking being too open. Whatever happens, I just want to see all our fit players bring their A game because this is what playing top level league football is all about, those crucial moments that can decide the direction your campaign takes. So far we haven't been great at grasping our own destiny, perhaps this is the moment that changes.
    • Totally agree, i fear if we lose this one the title is gone, confidence will be shattered and city will get a massive boost from it and kick on. It's a must not lose game in my opinion.

"I'd rather we were facing a 75% fit Kane than a 100% fit Son, though its possible we could be facing both.  However, on recent form Lucas Moura is their most dangerous player.  I think we hold all the advantages but football is unpredictable so it w…"

I heard there is a debate on the question "Does LFC need another defender?"  My question is why is there a debate about an obvious need.  We needed one last summer when I brought up the fact that except for VVD, all our CBs can be considered walking…

"I'm pretty philosophical about it, to be honest. A final should really be between the best players they have to offer and the best players we have to offer. Whenever big players are missing in finals there's always a lingering question mark over whe…"

"I also would have preferred Ajax as both teams don’t know each other and am very wary of Spurs. It took a last gasp own goal last time to win 2-1 and am sure they still smarting from that. It’s also Klopp’s 4th final as he lost the last 3 so the pre…"

There's been some subtle, but potentially important, rule changes since the last Champions League final. Each team gets to name a 23 man squad and they can pick their substitutes from any of the 12 players not chosen in the first 11. 3 substitutes…"

We know we are playing Spurs but i'm still 50-50 as to whom i would have prefered in the final. That Ajax team played some fantastic football in all the rounds leading up to the semi final and i think they would have given us a more…"
