Manure, 20-10-19, PL (A)

i Can't believe we haven't beaten them at old toilet since 2014 but i'm very confident that stat will change on sunday. We'll never have a better change to humiliate them at their own ground. Althogh we haven't hit top gear as yet what a time to do just that. On current form you can only see one outcome but of course they will up their game against us, their hated rivals, it won't be enough though, iv'e never felt this confident going into this fixture and i expect to to OT with all 3 points.

It looks like we'll have a full, fit squad to pick from with the welcome return of Alisson, although Adrian has done a great standin job i think Alisson will come straight back in. Thankfully Salah's knock wasn't bad and he looks fit to start also. Again it's the midfield thats hard to call but i'll go with Hendo, Fabinho and Wijnaldum. Iv'e just read Matip is available so i'll put him in, the rest i feel picks itself.

                                                                          Alisson

                                                           Arnold     Matip  VVD   Robbo

                                                           Hendo   Fabinho   Wijnaldum

                                                              Salah    Firmino   Mane

Not 100% about Matip but whether him or Lovren i feel we'll be smiling come sunday night. Only negative by beating them would be the fact they may sack Ole whom i want to stay their manger for at least this season, haha. Best of luck RedMen.

  • It took me some time to reflect from the game. Our performance was so low. Mane’s assist to Firmino was perfect but Firmino didn’t take the chance and fluffed it to their keeper. There is no point of me typing this about the game because most of you folks saw it too. My best assessment to this game that is Manure was so bad and we were so poor. At least we gained a point from a relegation threatened team that could be valuable to us for the PL title or them avoiding the drop when it comes down to the last game for their survival.

Let’s talk about VAR and what is wrong with it in England? It’s not working properly because there is no pitch side monitor for the referee to look at and he has to rely on someone or a group behind the scenes. Should their goal have stood? The answer is no. Was Mane’s goal correctly disallowed? Yes it was correctly disallowed. Speaking of an iffy referee and before the disallowed goal was in the net and if you look closer to the build-up of the goal, Lindelöf was man handling Sadio Mane and why was that seen by the officials on the pitch? If it had been seen by the officials then we would have gotten a free kick from outside the box.

FIFA introduced VAR for the World Cup in 2018 and it was a major success which worked perfectly. UEFA brought it in for last season Champions League and that was a success too. The introduction of VAR was implemented by FIFA with its rules and regulations. FIFA represents World Football and its organizations and associations of each nation. The English FA has to follow the rules and guidelines under FIFA. The burning question is and why on earth is VAR rules in English Football are different to the rules that FIFA has brought in? Soccer or Football is like the universal language for around the World, it has 22 players, 4 officials and one ball on the pitch.
    • Allow me to add when it comes to when it comes to the iffy referee. Fabinho was booked for his foul which is fair enough and how come Young wasn't booked for a similar foul?
  • So now we know that United at their best are capable of a draw against Liverpool at their worst! There weren't too many positives from that performance but I thought we defended pretty well, the substitutes looked lively and ready for increased game time and if nothing else we ensured that Solskjaer remains to undermine United for a few more games.
But in future can we please include one of our more creative players (Ox, Keita, Lallana, Shaqiri) in midfield. Three of Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Henderson and Milner just doesn't give us the necessary creativity.
    • I'm holding out hope that Keita will still be a big player for us, i would give him as much game time as possible, if only he can stay injury free i could see him easily go ahead of Hendo, Milner and Wijnaldum in the pecking order.
  • It's bloody annoying that that lot were the one's to end our winning streak, just had to be them. We have to get over this old toilet hoodoo, god knows when we could play them there again, maybe this season in a cup game, we have to get this monkey of our back.
Happy enough with the point seen that we weren't at our best and were one nil down, a bit worried about our form but so long as we remain unbeaten i suppose we can't complain but that stat won't remain if we don't step up a couple of gears, somebody will do us just like city have been done already.
  • I'm a bit perplexed by that performance. I can't quite work out how Klopp told them to play, surely he didn't want them to play at a slow tempo, not pressing players, regularly losing possession and making hit-and-hope passes. Some of our players were worse than others but the whole of our team were pretty much sub-par and I'm not quite sure why. The Old Trafford effect? To be fair to United, they swarmed us when we had the ball, counter-attacked well on occasion and kept a good defensive shape but had we played like we did in the last twenty minutes from the start I'm fairly sure we'd have taken all three points. Much will be made of VAR, disallowed goals and iffy refereeing but in all honesty I don't think we deserved more than a draw.
  • What a woeful performance. I got the impression the ref was a bit biased
  • No Salah. This could be interesting...
    • Origi didn’t do well at all. Mind games with Salah, he’s in doubt for Genk too
  • One of the oldest rivalries and it’s about time we should get a win at their stadium. Manure is over hyping this fixture against us because they are scared? Or trying to play mind games to make us feel over confident that we could end up creating silly mistakes?

Looking at the team sheet above and I don’t think Alisson is ready for this game. I would put in Milner instead of Henderson and as for the remaining players on the list seems just about right. We will find out tomorrow from the Gaffer with his first 11.

We had a chance last season to take all three points and we messed it up with a 0-0 draw. Yes it’s time to end the hoodoo because getting a winning result at old Toilet is difficult. I hope the front three will be on fire but I will settle with a 1-0 victory and it doesn’t matter who scores the winning goal for us.

Off topic, it’s great to know that Matip has signed a new contract because I think he deserved it and hopefully Milner will get a new contract soon.

"It's definately having teething problems. I'm with Uncle here, not a conspiracy but incompetence. Hopefully it'll sort itself out in time but at least we're not the only club to have suffered."
