Manure, 17-12-18, PL (H)

Biggest game in the PL in my opinion, could'nt believe the stat that we haven't beaten them at home in 4years so we're definitely due a win and i think we'll get it here. I'll get straight onto the team.

Arnold has been added to our growing list of injuries at the back but i'm not worried as such, we can still play Milner at RB and Lovren, if fit, can come in to partner VVD with Robbo at LB. Midfield is always tricky to predict but how about Keita, Hendo and Wijaldum with the usual suspects up front, my team would be,

                                           Milner   Lovren  VVD   Robbo

                                             Keita     Hendo   Wijnaldum

                                               Salah    Firmino   Mane

Hopefully any chances that come mane's way he will have learned how to put them away, Salah and Bobby seem to be getting back to their best so i am very hopefully of getting all 3 points here, we're by far the better team right now and favourites for the win. Best of luck RedMen.

  • It's been a long time since I've seen such a one-sided Liverpool/United derby match. We were so positive and they just seemed flat in comparison. I feel a bit for Mane, his goal was so well taken but it's been a little overshadowed by Shaqiri's brace. As has been said, Clyne was quite astounding given the amount of time he's been out, the coaching staff should get a pat on the back for that too. But Shaqiri coming off the bench is such an injection of talent for our team, it's been a while since we've had a player make that kind of impact.

What's surprised me recently is how little the rotating squad is affecting performances. In times gone by it was noticeable when more than a handful of the 'starting' players were missing but at the moment players are moving in and out of the team with no overall dips in level and that can only be a good thing when challenging City for the title.
  • Mané's goal was very well taken (could be a contender for Goal of the Month) and what an impact from Shaqiri. They can complain about the deflections and how lucky we were with those 2 goals. However if you look at the stats Liverpool: 64% possession, 36 shots, 11 on target, 13 corners and 6 fouls. Manure: 36% possession, 6 shots, 2 on target, 2 corners and 14 fouls. We could have won this game by more goals, 36 shots from us is crazy!!! Manure were very fortunate to leave Anfield with 1-3 defeat and they were very lucky with Alisson's error when it came to their equalizer.

Going off topic here, our remaining fixtures for December are Wolves (Away - Friday 21st), Newcastle (Home - Wednesday 26th), Arsenal (Home - Saturday 29th) and then we kick off in 2019 against Man City (Away) Thursday January 3rd.
  • I don't think ive ever been as confident of beating them as i was today. I haven't seen the game but according to reports we were by far the better team. Great result and keeps us top of the Lge for now, happy day's.
  • Superb performance this afternoon completely dominating an ordinary United side. Fabinho is really starting to impress. I thought he controlled midfield and it was a great assist for Mane's goal. Praise also for Clyne who has hardly played for over 18 months but hardly put a foot wrong. No need for Gomez to cover for Trent now we know Clyne is up to the task. That was also Firmino's best game for a while. I wasn't sure what position he was playing as he covered so much of the pitch but he is starting look more at home playing a little deeper than last season.
    • Fabinho seems to be getting better every game. For a DM he covers a lot of ground and seems a combination of an AM too. You right about Clynne for someone who has been out so long he didn’t look it. The crosses and corners though could have been better placed, that was a sore point to me considering how many we had and how poor it was. When Milner not playing somebody must step up to take them
      • Robertson has acknowledged the need for corner practice after all that wasteful delivery. Shaqiri delivers a good one but he only played the last 20 minutes. You would think professional players could deliver a corner pretty well where intended but Liverpool are not the only culprits.
    • They were definitely there for the taking today but you still have to go out and do the biz. My fear is that it might be the final nail in Maureen's coffin which we don't want, we need him at that club for another few years yet, hahaha.
      • Yeah you right about the final nail in Maureen’s coffin, they have sacked him
  • It's just the midfield that is so hard to predict these days. I think Fabinho should start for his height and strength against what could be a tall and physical United midfield that could include 3 of Fellaini, Matic. Poghba and Herreira. Henderson should start given he has not featured much recently and was playing himself back into form against Napoli. I also agree that Keita should come in as our box to box midfielder. United have been inconsistent this season but we have to expect them to try to rise their game for this one and I can see another tight encounter. Fortunately we have become adept at winning tight matches recently. Another 1-0?

"I'm not convinced another central defender is a top priority though a replacement for Lovren would not go amiss.  More important is a full back especially as cover for Robertson.  Adam Lewis has been mentioned as possibly moving up from the U23's bu…"

"I'd rather we were facing a 75% fit Kane than a 100% fit Son, though its possible we could be facing both.  However, on recent form Lucas Moura is their most dangerous player.  I think we hold all the advantages but football is unpredictable so it w…"

I heard there is a debate on the question "Does LFC need another defender?"  My question is why is there a debate about an obvious need.  We needed one last summer when I brought up the fact that except for VVD, all our CBs can be considered walking…

"I also would have preferred Ajax as both teams don’t know each other and am very wary of Spurs. It took a last gasp own goal last time to win 2-1 and am sure they still smarting from that. It’s also Klopp’s 4th final as he lost the last 3 so the pre…"

There's been some subtle, but potentially important, rule changes since the last Champions League final. Each team gets to name a 23 man squad and they can pick their substitutes from any of the 12 players not chosen in the first 11. 3 substitutes…"
