Madrid, CL Final, 26-05-18, Kiev.

A bit early i know but couldn't wait, with all the talk regarding transfers since the window open i was forgetting about the small matter of a CL final that we still have to play in, not.

Unfortunately and i don't mean that in a negative way, Klopp doesn't really have much brain storming to do as regards picking the team, he doesn't have a lot of options to be honest, front 3 we all know, Karius will start, as will VVD, Lovren, Robertson and Arnold. I can't see a midfield of anything other than Milner, Hendo and Wijnaldum. I would probably have started with Clyne and Lallana but their so not match fit and it's simply too big a game to be carrying anybody in.

                                              Arnold     Lovren    VVD    Robertson

                                                  Milner       Hendo    Wijnaldum

                                                   Salah       Firmino    Mane

I think a big plus for us is that we have already secured CL football for next season so we don't have that added pressure of having to win the final. A big concern for me is our serious lack of experience in this type of game and Madrids serious experience in them. We have the quality to win, especially if our front 3 are all on the top of their game but i do worry about our lack of experience in such a massive game, how will Arnold and Robertson handle such a big occassion, they've been fantastic this season, lets hope we get one more big performance from them and the rest of course, we'll need the all on their A game to beat Madrid but the same could be said of them. I think we're in for a cracking final and please god we get the right result, the very best of luck RedMen,     YNWA.

    • I like the fact they've got arrogance, they will think their entitled to win this, if we score the first goal they will crumble so long as we keep the pressure on and go for the 2nd-3rd straight away, none of this sitting back on a one goal lead BS like some teams would.
Real are there for the taking imo, their sense of entittlement is cringeworthy so if we can shove and early goal or two up their jacksie we could make this a comfortable game for ourselves, easier said than done of course.
  • I think your team is a certainty barring any last minute injuries. The noises coming out of Madrid are very disrespectful and hopefully this will fire us up even more than normal in a big match. Madrid will be the favourites and rightly so but on our day we can compete with any team. I have a hunch we may just do it. I'm out on Saturday but should be back in plenty of time for the match. My only problem is that the guy driving that day is a mad Evertonian who won't be at all bothered about missing it!
    • Hopefully next season our team won't be as straight forward to pick, we badly need a much better bench of which i'm sure Klopp is working on. I hope Madrid keep going with the disrespectful comments, it'll only add more fire in our players like you say.
Make sure that driver puts his foot down mate, don't take any chances, haha.
      • Our bench wouldn't look too bad were it not for the injuries. However, even if everyone was fit we wouldn't have experienced cover for the front 3 or a really creative midfielder and these are priority for sorting in the close season.
        • Agree, i'm sure Klopp is working on getting them top quality, experienced players in this summer, looks like Fekir is a done deal, i know nothing about him but everybody seems to be raving about him so him and Kieta could be a great start for us in this window.
          • Fekir? who tf is he
            • I thought the same Red but he's highly regarded by all accounts, if he has the same impact that VVD and Salah have had, which most people seem to think he will, then it's happy days for us.

I thought I would add a World Cup thread to the site so we can comment on the action and in particular on the performance of those Liverpool players who are participating and those with whom we are linked.  So far it has been an enjoyable competitio…

"Yeah, I think the gods have smiled on us for once, regarding fixtures. The only possible banana skin I can see is that we play three of the 'big six' over the Christmas period so if we have any injury problems at that point it could be tough going.…"

Uncle commented on Uncle's blog post Time for a Karius rethink?
"I doubt any of this will change most people's overall opinion of Karius and that wasn't really my intention. The point I was trying to make was that we, the fans, have understandably reacted harshly towards Karius because of his performance in that…"

"Sorry but no change in my opinion i'm afraid. Karius has been making mistakes since he joined and only for the even worse migs he would never have got the no.1 jersey, neither keeper is good enough to be LFC's no.1 keeper, no.2 maybe. We simply need…"

"Yeah, like i said, more to stop Salah than hurt him i feel. i'm not liking all that voting BS to have Ramos retrospectivly banned for it, a pure sign of sour grapes imo, we'll get revenge on him and Madrid in next seasons CL if we meet.
