Leicester, 30-01-19, PL (H)

Seems so long since we played but back to the prem now with a visit from leicester. Really bad news as regards Gomez, just as he was about to make a come back, not sure how much longer he'll be out for but it's a blow.

The usual front 3 of course and Alisson, Robertson are certs to start, the rest is anyones guess, we're at home so we attack, my guess is a midfield of Shaqiri, Hendo and Wijaldum with Milner falling back to RB and Fabinho at CB depending on the fitness of Matip and Lovren.

                                                            Alisson

                                         Milner    Fabinho  VVD   Robertson

                                             Shaqiri     Hendo   Wijaldum

                                              Salah     Firmino   Mane

I think this could be our strongest team right now given our injury list but no matter, i feel we'll have too much quality for leicester, a win for the reds as we march on to what could be a successful season. Best of luck RedMen.

  • I've just seen the football scores - Newcastle 2 Man City 1. I did not see that result coming at all, I didn't think City would drop points this soon. If we're going to win the league these are the kind of opportunies we have to take advantage of because while City might drop more points in the future they're also capable of going the rest of the season unbeaten. Klopp won't want to put any extra pressure on the team for the Leicester game but deep down he and the players will know they won't get many chances like this to draw away from City. Things just got interesting.
    • We simply have to grab this chance with both hands, let's hope they show how badly they want this title, send out a message that it's ours and we're not giving it away, i sense a nervy night in Anfield tonight.
    • Yes, very interesting. We have been in these situations before and failed to take advantage but this team feels different. A win tonight would restore that 7 point lead we held before the City game. There are no easy games and Leicester are a decent side but if we can come through this one and West Ham we will be in a great position.
      • I would be shocked if we didn't take full advantage of this result. This team and manager have the right mentality, they have the motivation now and i'm sure we'll get the win tonight. I must admit though i have been feeling less confident since city beat us and it showed with the team as well but tonight is the perfect opportunity to restore that confidence.
  • I have read VVD has not trained since Dubai because of illness and that if he does not train today he is out. However both Lovren and Matip are fit (not that that combination inspires confidence. Wijnaldum is also a doubt and if he does not play then either Fabinho or Keita would have to play alongside Henderson. If it was Fabinho then Camacho would have to come in as right back. It's unfortunate all these issues have arisen at the same time but none of them seem to be long term.
    • VVD trained yesterday and today as did Fabinho and wijnaldum is fit. all are expected to be available for tonight.
      • That's great news phil, thanks for your inside info, hahaha, Be a bloody cold night in Anfield tonight mate, wrap up well.
  • Milner's suspended after his red card so he'll be out. Apparently both Lovren and Matip were in full training this week so there's a chance either of them could start at centreback leaving Fabinho to play at right back, which of course he does for Brazil. If Lovren and Matip aren't fit we could be looking at one of the kids at right back, maybe Camacho. As for the game, Leicester have had a habit of catching us out in the past so I'm usually a bit cautious of them but they don't seem to be as tricky as they once were. Even so, they're still 9th in the table so they can't be taken lightly. My one worry is that we're going to have to juggle our players around a little to get all positions on the pitch covered and that may lead to a slight bit of uncertainty at first. Apart from that we should have too much fire power for Leicester to cope with (at least in theory).
    • I forgot milner is suspended and if Matip and Lovren are not ready then we do have problems at the back, just reading now that VVD is a doubt so you could say we're decimated at the back, this is a worry.

"I think two things need to happen, Mane needs to quit being a bit of a drama queen and Salah needs to pass the bloody ball a bit more. Not too concerned about this but Klopp does need to get a grip of it asap, we all know today's footballers are spo…"

"I was a bit surprised when I saw this diagram, I'd have thought if anything the figures would've been the other way around as Salah's assists stats are usually very good. I'm not particularly worried about it as going by what Henderson and Milner ha…"

"Let's hope Mane doesn't see that chart!  Neither is on international duty over the next couple of weeks so they have plenty of time to make up."

This handy little diagram shows the chances created by each of the front three players for the other front three players in the Premier League since the start of the 2017-18 season. What's noticeable is that Mane's chance creation for Salah is getti…

"Yes Adrian deserves a mention. That was the first game he has started when he did nothing rash. He also made a couple of good saves even though he was a spectator for much of the game. So far he has proved a decent number two in the absence of Al…"

"So happy we've kept our first clean sheet of the season, really helps to build the confidence of the back 5 so that's a big plus for me. I haven't seen the game but a good solid performance going by reports. Two points clear at the top of the tree,…"
