Huddersfield, 26-04-19, PL (H)

This game should be a formality but i still want to see our best 11 start, lets not take any chances at this stage of the run-in. Although Huddersfield are relegated they would love to bow out with us as a scalp so our best 11 to start with, hopefully get the game won in the first half and then rest some players for the Barca game.

                                                          Arnold    Matip  VVD   Robbo

                                                            Hendo   Fabinho   Keita

                                                            Salah    Firminho   Mane

Klopp may feel he can rest one or two but no more, we simply can't take any chances of dropping points now. I hope the team dosen't fall into the trap of having one eye on the Barca game and take this one for granted as that can always bite you on the ass, i don't think they will. Best of luck RedMen.

  • If MCFC goes on to win all 3 remaining EPL games, it'd be a tragedy for LFC to miss out on the league title even if we manage to end with 97pts. This is when we'd count the costs of drawing against the likes of Leicester, WHU and Crystal Palace eroding our 7pt lead... Klopp still doesn't think we need more clinical and incisive play and attacking midfielders?
    • If we don't win the PL I will look back at the game at City when Mane hit the inside of the post and the ball stayed out and Sane did the same to the same post and the ball went in. Fine margins. I am happy with our midfield and central defenders. We need quality back-up at full back, goalkeeper and across the front line if we are to raise the very high standard required to overtake City.
    • You have to keep a certain sense of perspective, I think - if we don't win the league it's because we'll have been beaten by a truly outstanding side, a side we would've pushed right to the wire. So far we have a record of 28 wins, 7 draws and 1 loss - that's a fanastic record and in the vast majority of seasons you'd expect to go on and be champions with a record like that, and we still might be. Yes, we've drawn matches but we haven't lost the amount of matches our competitors have - City have lost 4 and Spurs have lost 12! So it's a bit of a red herring looking back and saying we should've won this or that game, all teams will drop points throughout a season and we've been a tad unlucky in that we've come up against an ultra-consistent side in City who have dropped just one less point than us. Whatever the final outcome will be I reckon if you compare the stats of this Liverpool side with those of previous Liverpool sides they'll be right up there with the title winners of the past. You can't ask much more of a team than that, even if they fall just short of the title.
  • Despite the early goal we were poor early on but had settled before the second went in. We can't afford to have these sloppy spells against Barca or indeed Newcastle or Wolves. Otherwise it was almost a perfect night - it would have been perfect if Oxlade-Chamberlain had put his chance away. I was a bit surprised we didn't try to conserve energy a bit more in the second half. Even when 5-0 up we were still looking for a sixth. Whatever happens over the next few weeks I think our fitness coaches should get a big bonus.
  • When I heard Firmino wouldn't be playing I started to wonder whether this would be the game when everything finally falls apart and Liverpool put in a disjointed performance. Not a bit of it, all the changes that were made in the line-up, both before and during the game, worked well and Liverpool did exactly what they had to. I actually felt sorry for Huddersfield at one point as scoring against them began to feel like kicking an old dog. The good thing is that our scorers and providers should be feeling really confident for the Barcelona game, not to mention the fact we're still really solid defensively. All I want to hear now is that Firmino's slight thigh strain is nothing more than that.
  • Down to Rafa and Rodgers to help us win this title so, really happy united are in a bad way but was praying they'd help us last night, wishful thinking.
  • The line-up looks possible but I would drop Fabinho and allow him to recover with more rest after the clash of heads during the Cardiff game and keep him for the Barcelona tie for which I think makes perfect sense. I have no idea who to put in instead of him and Huddersfield has nothing to lose since they are relegated but I do expect us to win the three points.
  • With perhaps the exception of the front three the squad rotation these days tends to work pretty well so I think Klopp could probably get away with changing two or three starters. I would make sure there was a Henderson or Milner on the pitch though, they really do make a difference to the intensity with which we play. The players know we'll probably need to win all of our remaining matches so I'll be surprised if they take it too easy, afterall a win against Huddersfield is worth the same points as a win against City.
  • With 3 games in 7 days coming up starting with Barca away I think there will be some changes though not to the front 3. I can see Joe Gomez getting a start to give Trent a rest and Fabinho should return if he recovers from his head injury. If we can get the game won early for a change then Klopp can give others a rest by using the subs.

"The Dortmund game was an odd one for a couple of reasons. The pitch had just been laid and they strangely didn't water it enough so it was slow and with little bounce, conditions that worked against how we play. The Dortmund team put out a strong st…"

"I'm not quite sure how it's a tribute to Bob Paisley but considering some of the kits of the recent past I think this one's not too bad. The design reminds me of chain mail so we should be alright as we go into battle."

Here's the third kit for the new season and again it pays homage to the legendary Bob Paisley.

"Haven’t seen any of the pre-season games but what I gather in the media the youngsters Brewster and Wilson show promise and it also seems like left back has cover. Looking forward as to how Sep van den Berg will fare when he can play"

The new season is almost upon us and is no less welcome for the fact that football never actually went away over the summer.  Liverpool are yet to sign any senior players and this gives a chance for the youngsters to make a case for their involvemen…
