Fulham, 11-11-18, PL (H)

I don't think i need to say anything about tuesday night's game so i won't. I'm hoping it's a good thing that we have the team bottom of the Lge up next so it should be a great chance to bounce straight back with a good result/performance. Let's get onto the team.

4 of the back 5 picks itself but what about Arnold now that he's in a dip of form, is there a case for giving Clyne a start here? possibly. The midfield as usual will always throw up a debate so here's one for you, have we seen a midfield of Shaqiri, Fabinho and Keita yet, i can't recall but that's my midfield for this game. Klopp needs to start starting Shaqiri, we know what we'll get from him, creativity and that's what we've been lacking imo. We also need to get Keita up and running, another creative player who's top quality, Fabinho showed his best form to date against the lesser teams, was awful against arsenal but we're playing fulham so he should be alright, needs to adapt quickly to the PL so he starts here for me, from 3 as usual picks itself.

                                                      Alisson

                                        Clyne    Gomez  VVD   Robertson

                                             Shaqiri    Fabinho   Keita

                                              Salah    Firmino   Mane

Not sure Klopp will start Keita who's just coming back of an injury but why not, i always say if a player is fit enough to be on the bench then he's fit enough to start, give him an hour and then make the change, like i said earlier we need to get him going which means game time, he's fit so start him, i have a feeling hendo might come back in though. Best of luck RedMen.

  • A midfield of Fabinho, Keita, Shaquiri would be interesting to see but as Hendo is fit I can see Klopp starting one of his favourite players. Trent does need a break and shouldn’t be starting so why not Clyne or Gomez if fit. It should be at least a 4-0 here or something is seriously amiss
  • We have been stale in the past two games and this would be my team:

    Team #1
    Mane Firmino Salah
    Keita Henderson Shaqiri
    Fabinho Lovern VVD Robertson
    Alisson

    Team #2
    Mane Firmino Salah
    Fabinho Keita Shaqiri
    Clyne Lovern VVD Robertson
    Alisson

Whatever team is put out and we still need to win... let's hope City, Chelsea slips up against Manure and Everton.
  • I agree it is time to start to integrate Clyne back into the team. I thought he did ok against Chelsea in the League Cup considering he has hardly played for over a year. Trent will come again but he looks like a player who missed a break in the summer. I think Henderson will return for this one replacing either Fabinho or Keita in your team. Most likely Keita will be on the bench as Klopp will be wary of starting two players who have missed several weeks. It will be an opportunity to put Red Star behind us but there are no easy games and we will require a much improved performance.
  • I think that's a really sensible team selection. Trent looks like he could do with a game on the sidelines, he's only young afterall, so we might as well play Clyne as he's in the squad. When else is he going to get a game? Fabinho needs a game before he goes on international duty, he doesn't want his last PL memory to be his Arsenal horror show. If Keita's fit, which he apparently is, then this might be the best match to ease him back in. There's an argument that Firmino could be benched but that front three has to rediscover their chemistry and they're not going to do that on the sidelines. Given recent results it's going to be hard for Klopp to find the right balance between shuffling the pack and making sure we get an uplifting game but a team like above would be about right, I would say.
    • Our midfield against redstar was shocking and that's surprising given wijnaldum and milner were in there although wijaldum has regressed recently from his earlier season good form but not so surprising with lallana, i think his LFC career is done and won't be with us next season. I think the midfield above has the potential to be our best and so it should be given we brought these players in as upgrades i would imagine. The likes of milner, hendo and wijnaldum will have their roles to play but we should be starting these 3 a lot more often now and like i said earlier this should be, on paper at least, a nice comfortable game to ease them in as a trio.
I completely forgot about the bloody international break, this and the watford game in the space of a week would have been ideal for them to gel together somewhat before the psg game but that's thrown a spanner into that idea,

I heard there is a debate on the question "Does LFC need another defender?"  My question is why is there a debate about an obvious need.  We needed one last summer when I brought up the fact that except for VVD, all our CBs can be considered walking…

"I also would have preferred Ajax as both teams don’t know each other and am very wary of Spurs. It took a last gasp own goal last time to win 2-1 and am sure they still smarting from that. It’s also Klopp’s 4th final as he lost the last 3 so the pre…"

There's been some subtle, but potentially important, rule changes since the last Champions League final. Each team gets to name a 23 man squad and they can pick their substitutes from any of the 12 players not chosen in the first 11. 3 substitutes…"
