Chelsea, 14-04-19, PL (H)

In my opinion this is the game where we could lose the title as i feel we'll win all the other games, of course even if we do beat the chavs it may not be enough but fingers crossed.

We'll have Robbo back so he obviously will start alongside VVD, Matip and Arnold, Alisson between the sticks, well, it would hardly be Migs, hahaha.

As usual it's the midfield that is hard to predict but right now i think our best and inform midfielders are Hendo, Fbinho and Keita so that's my pick here, usual 3 upfront.

                                                                     Alisson

                                                   Arnold      Matip    VVD   Robbo

                                                       Hendo   Fabinho   Keita

                                                      Salah     Firminho  Mane

All our remaining games are must win but like i said i feel we'll win the others but this one could be our bannana skin even though i do think we'll beat them, just. Best of luck RedMen.

  • That was a very professional performance marred only by our failure to adjust quickly enough to Chelsea's change of formation allowing Hazard a couple of chances which he would normally have put away. Once Wijnaldum came on we looked solid again and I felt Chelsea's heavy recent programme was a factor in them fading. Several players are getting plaudits in the press but I would like to mention Firmino who knitted the attack together brilliantly. Also Fabinho proved that he can be trusted for the biggest games while Trent had his best game for some time.
    • I watched MOTD (mainly to see that Salah goal again) and I didn't quite realise at the time how much Alisson did to prevent those Hazard goals. He gets out very quickly to close down Hazard for the first, forcing him to hit the post, and he makes a great save for the second. Admittedly, you'd expect someone of Hazard's class to put both chances away but Alisson did an awful lot to make both attempts much more difficult than they could've been.
  • It was a good win today for us. There were moments we were like rabbits caught in between the headlights during some parts of the game. Both goals were very well taken and we could have scored more but I am happy with the 2-0 result.

Liverpool and City has already qualified for the CL and two remaining spots from the top four are still opened between four teams Arsenal, Chelsea, United and Spurs which will be fierce competition between them. City has to play against both Spurs and United soon and both Spurs and United want to win those games so it may come on our favor and hopefully we can clinch the PL only if we can win our last four games. Next stop is Porto in Portugal Wednesday night.
  • We probably won that with a combination of good play and good luck. As Warrior predicted Klopp went with Keita and played on the front foot, a tactic that worked well until Chelsea changed their shape and we had trouble adjusting. It's not often Chelsea won't score from what looked like three almost certain chances but we got lucky today. Having said that, I thought we earned that luck as our general play was very good (Keita and Robertson had ropey moments but they didn't cost us). Two standout moments were, of course, Salah's wonder goal and Henderson's assist but I thought all departments of the team outclassed their Chelsea equivalents. It was a fixture I was dreading but now it's behind us and we got the three points, all we need now is for City to hurry up and stutter (we can but pray...).
  • That's a big big win for us, here's praying Spurs and united can do us a favour.
    • Spurs maybe manure not looking good lately.
      • The one thing that might be in our favour is that both Spurs and United could be fighting for the last Champions League spot (if Chelsea remain in third place which is quite possible). Hopefully that'll give them a bit of extra motivation against a City side that by then will have gone far in all the competitions and might just be feeling the effects.
  • Right so, it's now a must win if we want to stay top today after city's win. Delighted to see Keita start as i'm hoping his LFC career has kicked off as regards his form.
  • The game's at Anfield, not away (thank God). I'm not too bothered whether it's Matip or Lovren in defence, they both played well in their last games, although I think Klopp will probably go for Lovren. In midfield I think Henderson and Fabinho are probably nailed on starters but the other midfield spot is less predictable. It's likely to be between Keita, Wijnaldum and Milner and I get the feeling it might be one of the last two because I don't think Klopp will consider Keita defensive enough for this opponent. The front three will no doubt be the usual three. I think we're good enough now to manage Chelsea, the only thing that really worries me is Hazard. There are some players you can prepare all you like for but you know if they work their magic on the day they can undo all your hard work and there's nothing you can do about it. Hazard is one of those players. What I think Klopp will do, however, is try and limit Hazard's supply in midfield which is why he may well go for more defensive-minded players. If we don't let the hype surrounding this game get to us we can get a result here, what we don't want is moments of magic from the opposition or lapses in concentration from us (yes, I'm looking at you, Alisson).
    • Not sure why i put away but duly noted and changed cheers.

I completely forgot about Gomez, maybe Klopp might just start him, doubtful but possible, i'd almost prefer a half fit gomez to the other two, certainly Lovren.

I don't think hazard played any part in their europa lge game on thursday, keeping him fit for this game and yes he is the big threat from them but we have a gem in Salah who i guess would very much love to score against them so he'll be well up for this one, hopefully.

I started Keita because i feel we need plenty of attacking options here, we need to be on the offence right from the off and he's showing why we paid 50 odd million for him lately, must start imo.

"I'm happy with the white second strip.  White was the traditional colour back in the 60's and 70's, though I did like the yellow pinstripe that folowed.  I'm not sure about the dark blue shorts though.  I would prefer all white.  The third kit gives…"
