Brighton, 12-01-19, PL (A)

A tad disappointing being knocked out of the FA cup but now it's all about how we react. We know Lovren, Gomez and Matip are out so i'm going to put Fabinho back there to partner VVD, he done very well there recently so i've no worries about the rest being out. Keita clearly needs game time so i'll put him in as well alongside Shaqiri and either Hendo/Milner. The usual suspects up front for sure.

                                                                     Alisson

                                                 Arnold    Fabinho   VVD    Robertson

                                                       Shaqiri     Hendo   Keita

                                                        Salah    Firmino   Mane

Like i said earlier, it's all about how we bounce back after two defeats in a row. I think we'll be fine here and for sure we'll bring 3 points back home, anything else would be a bit of a disaster really, simply have to win. Best of luck RedMen.

    • I think a goal would do Keita the world of good right now. He has flashes of genius but the consistency just isn't there at the moment, it makes it difficult for Klopp to pick him as a starter. On top of that Klopp probably doesn't want to take any unnecessary risks because of the small margin of the lead in the league, it all creates a difficult set of circumstances for Keita at this point.
      • He's not getting the chance to be consistent though, i'm sure with more time on the pitch we will start to see the best of him, we've seen it in patches, as you say but he simply needs to be on the grass a lot more than he has, it's a slight dilemma for Klopp but i'm sure he'll figure it out.
  • Liverpool need to make a bit of a statement in this match. City are re-establishing themselves after a bit of a wobble and I wouldn't be surprised if they built up momentum again rather quickly. It'd be just like Liverpool to start getting draws against lesser teams now so we've got to really focus on getting results and maintaining our lead. We tend to think Brighton are a bottom of the table team but they've nearly got identical stats to midtable Everton (Brighton - W7 D5 L9, Everton - W7 D6 L8). It just goes to show if you take Brighton lightly they will steal points off you. I think the defence and attack shown above are probably right but I don't have a clue what midfield Klopp has in mind. On this occasion the mentality of the team is as, if not more, important as the personnel.
    • We badly need a big response here, a good, hard working, confident performance is what i'm looking for, a clean sheet and 2-3 goals, perfect. This game is all about the mentality of the team like you say, i'm convinced Klopp and the players are fully focused on the Lge and the Lge only, if the truth be known they weren't arsed about the FA cup, their one and only goal this season is the Lge, the CL a close 2nd of course but the Lge is the primary target and if true i'm 100% behind them on that.

"I'm happy with the white second strip.  White was the traditional colour back in the 60's and 70's, though I did like the yellow pinstripe that folowed.  I'm not sure about the dark blue shorts though.  I would prefer all white.  The third kit gives…"

"I think Grujic will be given a chance in pre-season to show if his improvement last season has brough him up to Liverpool level.  Wilson is now 22 and my worry for him is that he is a bit lightweight.  I prefer Kent though he doesn't score as many g…"

Liverpool has been a great about letting talented youngsters go permamently to another team if they have no real chance at first team futbol.  Yet in the cases of Grujic, Wilson and maybe Woodburn, we may be throwing the baby out with the bathwater!…

"But LFC keep secrets so well.  Remember last year's transfer window.  I've got this strange mental itch that a certain CB is coming our way.  Hope I didn't just jinx us!  Fixtures aside, any "reasonable" opportunity to enhance the squad's overall qu…"
