Bournemouth, 08-12-18, PL (A)

Big blow that Gomez is out til the new year but we carry on, my only concern is the awful Matip looks like he'll start here as Lovren is also ruled out. Robertson should return at LB but Mane is also a doubt but nothing serious apparently. I have but two wishes for this game and that's that Keita and Shaqiri start, especialy Keita who played very well against burnley, let's keep his progress moving along nicely, big player for us this season i feel. My team for this game,

                                                            Alisson

                                            Arnold   Matip  VVD  Robertson

                                                Milner   Fabinho  Keita

                                               Salah    Firmino   Shaqiri

We struggled a bit against burnley in the first half but came through in the end and i can see a similar scenario here, fully expect all 3points. Maybe Klopp will make a few more changes like against burnley with two big games coming up next week against napoli and manure but i feel whatever team he puts out tomorrow we should have too much for bournemouth. Best of luck RedMen.

  • Seems salah is back to his best, haven't seen the game so any reports on our performance would be appreciated.
    • Salah looked so confident today, like he was controlling the game rather than the game controlling him. When he's not on form he takes 'hopeful' shots but when he is on form he crafts his chances. The defence did surprisingly well with Matip and our new right back, Milner. Van Dijk has a way of bringing out the best in his fellow centre back. There were no complaints about the midfield, and the front three operated well together. Even the substitutions were pretty seamless too. With the exception of Lallana doing his best Terry Butcher impression with a cut to the head (which he got stitched and came back on) the game went as well as could've been expected.
      • Just about to watch the highlights and made even sweeter with chelsea beating city. I think it was always a case of when our front 3 clicked again and not if, it seems we're moving onto the next level now and how timely with a massive CL game against Napoli on tuesday and of course the small matter of manure next sunday.
        • I think a good half a dozen or so of our players have found their feet at around the same time which has made recent performances look a lot more complete. Because of this the squad rotation is actually working, we're not seeing a particular dip in performances when the starting eleven changes.
    • Salah was back to his best certainly. His third goal reminded me of the one he scored at Porto last season in the way in which he took his time and worked the opening when most would have panicked in that situation. I thought it was our best performance since the Spurs game and it wasn't just Salah that impressed. Fabinho had another very solid game and Firmino looked more like his old self with 2 assists. All in all a good way to start a most important week for the reds and an added bonus was City losing to Chelsea.
  • I doubt Klopp will want to start Trent A-A with 2 big matches coming up so I would expect Milner or Fabinho to cover at right back, probably Milner with Wijnaldum coming into midfield.
  • Can’t second guess Klopp he always pulls one over us but the only thing I am positive about is that there will be enough beer to cover ‘added time’ so I don’t miss anything like I did with the derby. I lost a lifetime memory on that one lol
  • Mane has travelled with the squad so that's a bonus. Klopp has said he's got plans for how he is going to cover for the missing players in defence but he won't say what they are. I believe Fabinho has played at right back for Brazil so that's always an option.
    • Are Mane and Salah headed for the African Cup of Nations in January?
      • AFCON has been moved to the summer as far as i know, after the prem lge is over.

"This was one of those games when we were comfortably in control and cruising but failed to get the second goal and then got sloppy and conceded a goal that involved three mistakes. Thankfully Milner's penalty rescued the points and had Salah been on…"

"Spurs form in the CL has been excellent so they could overturn City but if i was to put money on it i would still opt for City. The other 3 ties i think ourselves, Barca and Juve will just about have too much for our opponets but of course anything…"

"Yes it's the last 8 and I wouldn't take advantage of Porto either and it's up to us to get it right to qualify for the semi-finals. I am glad corrupted Real Madrid were hammered in the second leg in the hands of Ajax. "

"That would be my guess for the semifinals too, but like you say anyone who reaches this stage of the competition has a chance."

"My attitude is at this stage of the comp all teams are there on merit so there won't be any easy games from now on. Porto was definitly the easier draw, on paper at least so we done well in that sense but they have a big insentive to up their game a…"

This is almost a guarenteed 3points, can never be sure but very confident of a win here. Think we'll see Fabinho back from the start alongside Wijaldum and Milner, rest of the team picks itself.                                                       …
