The Road To Istanbul 2019-20

The Group stages draw has been kind to us for this season’s UEFA Champions league. We share the same group E with Napoli, Salzburg and Genk. The plus side is the geographical locations of Italy, Austria and Belgium so flight distances are closer to home.

Bonus is that Alisson won best keeper award and VVD won best defender of last season’s UEFA Champions League. Also VVD won UEFA UEFA's Men's Player of the Year for 2018-19.

  • Its a group which should hold no fears for Liverpool.  I'm slightly disappointed that we have drawn Napoli again but only because I'm a bit tired of us playing them.  Pre-season 2018, CL home and away in 2018. pre-season 2019 and now two further games.  At least it gives us the chance to put right that poor performance in Napoli last year.  We haven't played Salzberg or Genk before but we have connections in tht Mane and Keita were at Salzberg and Origi was a youth player at Genk.  The only problem I can see is if we are too complacent against Genk or Salzberg but it is most unlikely Klopp would permit such an attitude.

  • Couldn't really have asked for a better draw, we should breeze into the knockout stages but to be honest i'm not arsed about the CL this season, don't get me wrong, be very nice to win it again of course but for me this season has to be all about the Lge. Very early day's i know but we're 2 clear already, we simply can't be slipping up against the likes of burnley, have to maintain that lead and take full advantage of and mistakes from city which there won't be many.
